October 2, Malindi, Kenya
60km hiking in the Usambura mountains among villages and kids shouting anything that they know in English to a msungu, eg "pick-a-picta", "Good morning Teacher", "Give me my money" o "Give me my pen", "This is my stomach" and "Musungu in Africa". That was my last bit of hiking after getting lazy in Zanzibar.
Zanzibar was fantastic. Beach, dive, fish, sun and sunburn. In addition Stone Town is a nice place to visit. It's a labyrinth of small street to enjoy and get lost. Except for the Madrassa (islamic school) next to my room. If you don't know Muslims pray at 5 o'clock in the morning, loudly.
After that we moved to Mombasa, Kenya, just 10 hours bus ride. And since we were at the coast, why not going to some more diving? We are in Malindi, and Italian town in Kenya. I found an Italian diving center and we enjoy a really nice dive despite the strong current. Pity that Franta, the diving photographer, change the setting of his camera for the second dive and we have now some nice pictures in sepia instead of colorful ones:)
On October 5 we will eventually move out of East Africa. Southern Sudan, they say, it's to dangerous... alright then, let's go to Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.
Ciao!
